We are ordinary people worshiping an extraordinary God.
Who we Are
While we are officially the Conway Village Congregational Church, we are casually known as “The Brown Church ” throughout the Valley. We’ve been here from the beginning and while our structure and location has evolved throughout history, we remain a reliable and friendly face of the town. Though we have a blend of new and old timer congregants in our church, and individually we’re diverse, our mid sized church harmonizes well. We’re family here and there is a place at the table for everyone. We’re a creative work in process; looking towards the future while blessing our present and honoring our past. There is an ongoing invitation to allow God to work through each of us, to discover our place in this church family and the greater community.
What We Believe
We are a Congregational Church, belonging to the United Church of Christ and the New Hampshire Conference.
We believe in God the Father, infinite in wisdom, goodness and love. We believe in Jesus Christ, His Son, our Lord and Savior, who for us and our salvation, lived and died and rose again and lives eternally in the Holy Spirit, who takes the presence of Christ and reveals them to us, renewing, comforting and inspiring the souls of people.
We are united in striving to know the will of God as taught in the Holy Scriptures, and in our purpose to walk in the ways of Jesus Christ as those ways are known or will be known to us in the future.
We hold it to be the mission of the church of Christ to proclaim the Gospel to all humankind, exalting in the worship of the one true God, and laboring for the progress of knowledge, the promotion of justice, the reign of peace and the realization of human fellowship. Depending, as did our ancestors upon the continued guidance of the Holy Spirit to lead us into God’s truth, we work and pray for the transformation of the world into the Kingdom of God, and we look with faith for the triumph of God’s righteousness, and everlasting life.
The Old Man Of The Mountain weathervane was a gift to the church from Mr. Arthur E. Kenison, Jr. in memory of his mother. Affixed to our steeple The Old Man watches over the mountains and our valley.
